Classes for little ones

Every kids' class works from the same principles: we teach a real technique, then get out of the way so creativity can take the driver's seat.

Our littlest artists get their hands (and their elbows, and probably their hair) into different materials, to pour, squish, stamp, and stick, then find out what happens. This is process art, which is a fancy way of saying nothing has to look like anything. There’s no example taped to the wall to copy and no wrong way to do it. You stay and make a mess right alongside them.

Format:
Once a week for a 6-week block

Choice of Monday or Wednesday morning from 9:30–10:30am

We focus on one big idea for 6 weeks, so the kids can start to build real skills. They'll learn the technique first, then have free rein to make it their own. We’re not chasing a perfect finished piece here. The moment a kid looks up and says “wait, can I try it THIS way?” is exactly what we're after.

Format:
6-week blocks (a new technique or medium each block)

When:
After school, choice of Mondays 4:00–5:15pm or Thursdays 4:45–6:00pm

Classes for big kids and teens

With our big kids and teens, we work on building deeper skills and techniques, while still keeping the focus on fun, exploration, and creativity.

Somewhere around nine, kids start saying "I’m not good at art." Art Lab is our answer to that.

This class leans into real skill-building — shading, proportion, working with proper tools and materials — in a room where nobody is ranking anybody. Six weeks later kids can do something they couldn’t do before, and they have the proof of it in their hands.

Format:
Once a week for 6-week blocks, focusing on a new technique or medium each block

When:
After school on Wednesdays from 4:45–6:30pm

Teens (13+)
Teens (13+)

A weekly series of high-end, hands-on workshops for teenagers who want to learn how to make something cool, and have fun doing it. Every session stands on its own: come in, learn a real skill, and take home a finished project you can be proud of. Come every week or come when your schedule lets you.

Once a week for 6-week blocks

When:
Choice of Sundays 6:00–9:00pm or Wednesdays 6:30–8:30pm

Just because you’re technically an adult doesn’t mean you have to say goodbye to that little kid version of you who loved to create things. We provide a fun and safe environment to get back in touch with your creative side (or maybe meet that side of yourself for the first time).

Book the sitter. Put the phone down. We’ll walk you through everything step-by-step and you’ll leave with a finished piece and a better story than dinner-and-a-movie. Come with a date, your group of besties, or even your sister who insists she can’t draw. It’ll be fun for everyone!

The Fine Art of Adulting
The Fine Art of Adulting

Remember when you used to draw? This is the class that gets you back in touch with your creative side (or maybe for the first time!).

Six weeks of actual instruction on essential concepts like perspective, shading, color theory, the fundamentals of sculpture, techniques in printmaking — taught in a room full of other adults who are also starting over or getting in touch with their creative side for the first time.

Tuesday evenings from 8:00–10:00pm

Not ready to commit to a full course? Just looking for something fun to do on a Sunday? Our open studio hours are a great option for all ages to come make something.

No class, no teacher, no plan required. Drop in, pick from the mediums you'd like to work with, and stay as long as you'd like. Come by yourself for a quiet hour, bring a friend, or come in with the kids on a day that needs saving.

Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions or feeling curious about something? Lucky for you, that’s kind of our specialty around here. If you have questions about anything we didn’t answer here, just reach out.

  • Nope! All the materials you need are included in the price of your class. It’s best to wear something you don’t mind getting dirty (though we’ll provide smocks, don’t worry!)

  • Then you’re in exactly the right place. Whether you’ve been making art for years, or you’ve never picked up a paint brush before, you’ll learn everything you need to know — in a safe and fun environment.

  • If you have to miss a class, you’ll have the opportunity to make that class up anytime during the 6-week class cycle. Each cohort is offered twice a week, so you can make up the class you missed by taking it on the other day. (For example, if you sign up for the Mini Makers class on Mondays and have to miss a class, you can make it up by coming to a Friday Mini Makers class).
